Everything I can find is something that can very easily be faked or explained in a much better way than “spirits of dead people”. Is there any real evidence to the existence of ghosts?

If there was such evidence, do you think this topic would still be a controversial one? No!
However, the closest I can come to ‘evidence’ that support the ‘possibility’ of the existence of ‘ghosts’ is, our memories, thoughts, feelings and lives are created by the brain. The brain is functioning due to electrical and biological synapses. Electricity is a form of energy.
in Albert Einsteins famous quote, “Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only change forms”. It stands to reason that upon death, the electrical energy that once made us human, does not dissipate, nor does it get destroyed. Therefore, it instead must take another form. Could this form be ‘ghosts’? or could it be absorbed into the atmosphere?
My hobby is trying to catch proof of the after life. I have gotten some really cool EVPS and videos of orbs. What sucks is when you hear someone elses you dont know if its real or not. If you lived by me i would take ya with on a ghost hunt. BUt if you are intested in listening to or seeing what i find, I blog about it and post the videos and evps on here.. (Im not selling anything, this is just my hobby)
too bad you dont live here. You wouldnt be asking that question.
http://www.nderf.org and http://www.iands.org offer some evidence for persistence of awareness beyond the physical body.
Likewise, http://www.soulsurvivor-book.com

Life before Life, Jim Tucker, and
The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?, Free and Wilcock, also good.
The type of evidence leading to proof is perhaps quite different than the type of evidence one obtains by handling groups of atoms.
yep u got the evidence from us right here. you see all these millions of people that say they experience paranormal things? really, why would we waste our time explaining something that wasnt real. watch ghost adventures or ghost hunters theres real proof for you. hell yes spirits are real, iv been poked whispered too, iv seen things felt things, ect. u cant deny the evidence of millions of ppl on here, just check out the different stories theres real proof there
Not only is there no proof, there is nothing that could be legitimate scientific evidence. Like you said, all we seem to have is faked photos and videos.
If you go to India you would know. Once i went to this Hindu temple like thing with preists. And there was this lady sitting there doing weird things, and one of the preists had like whip type belt that he was beating her with it, and saying stuff like get out of her body, what do you want, and stuff like that. Basically there was a ghost in her body. When she was getting beat only the ghost was feeling it, i didnt stay till long to see if it got out.
There was this lady that put a curse like black magic or whatever on my my moms moms mom (waaay back) so basically ever since her sons are dying at young age. She had like 5 sons, and now there is only one alive. They all died around 20-55 years old. My moms dad was one of them who died young. He was perfectly fine the day before. He was sleeping on the roof (in india roofs are flat and people sleep and do stuff on them like we do in our backyards) and their house used to be behind a graveyard. I believe this is the curse because their dying one by one at young ages, and some of their deaths are unexplained.
Ok so one i was at a wedding in india and my moms moms mom spirit came in my moms aunt, everyone sat around her, and she was telling us about all the dead people that died in her family. This as been happening to her for a long time ever since my great grandma has passed away. And sometimes she speaks about the future which has came true. When i the spirit came in she her voice changed and my grandma told me its the exact same voice of her mom. So when the spirit left my aunt was unconscience for a few minutes and became really tired afterwards.
Its basically about believing and not believing. Some people like to find excuses for all these things, like for the first story someone would say the woman probabally had some type of mental illness.
Well, the phenomena we CALL “ghosts” is certainly real—eyewitness reports, EM and temperature effects that are measurable by instruments, etc.—It’s just that we do not know if we are dealing with “spirits of dead people” or not. Natural time warps, parallel universe interactions would certainly produce phenomena that ancient people could have attributed to ‘spirits”—and such traditional ‘explanations” may have ‘stuck” over the Millenia.
Your question does not seem to be is there proof (which is not what science provides, it provides evidence) that ghosts (which you fail to define) exists (which you also fail to define). If it is then this is the wrong section and you have asked an unanswerable question.
I’m not quite sure if you asking if there is evidence of “spirits of dead people” (links below) or if your asking if there is a better explanation, in some if not many cases there is, than “spirits of dead people” for the experience of ghosts. Certainly everything from high magnetic fields inducing hallucinations to extrasensory perception has been proposed as possible explanation for ghost experiences.
One of the problems with survival research is there are alternative explanations (some paranormal and some not) that can also fit the evidence.
As far as proof in the sense of common day experiences or judged by the reasonable burden of proof ( a legal concept) there is written records for every civilization in every period of time which there exist written records of encounters with what people describe as ghosts and the personal experience of millions. This does not make their interpretations from Gods, Demons, Ghosts, Angels, etc. correct but it does establish that the experience happens.
