I consider ghosts and paranormal activity to be the work of demons. The Bible mentions demons, and if you read about the demons that possessed humans in the Bible, I would consider their activities NOT normal.
if writing it biblical you are very limited as the bible is very misleading. To research properly in to ‘paranormal’ activity, then you need to venture away from biblical texts.
I don’t recall anything regarding that subject. Perhaps another religion makes mention of such in their “form of The Bible”, as you’re looking for “authenticity”? You could also refer to “Lost Scrolls” or such… Good Luck
The Bible says ghosts do not exist because spirits of humans can not return. If grandma appears to you after her funeral, according to the bible she is a demon.
The bible also tells us to stay away from fortune tellers and people in general claiming paranormal powers.
In fact if I remember right, it is sinful to consort with them. It’s been years since I read the Bible, but at least I did read it. It’s a wonder to me how many so-called Christians don’t know what’s in it.
I suggest anyone writing a biblical novel, read it in it’s entirety before starting. Pick the Catholic or King James edition, but by all means do read it. Don’t depend on others to tell you what’s in it,because most of us don’t know or misinterpret it to our personal agendas.
Ann,In the Bible under the book of Luke,Chapter 24,Verses 37-40.37,it says that they were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.38,Jesus said to them,”Why are you troubled and why are there doubts that arise in your minds”?39,Look at my hands and my feet.It is I myself! Touch me and see,a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. There are reports in the Bible of disembodied voices, apparitions that appeared and faded away, strange lights and other patterns that we associate with modern day ghosts.A book that is centuries old even refers to what a ghost looks like. All over the world in countless historical documents and texts, there are reports of ghostly phenomena dating back for hundreds of years of people seeing paranormal activity, and seeing apparitions and things that can’t be explained.Hope this info will help you out.At least you have a place to start for your story.

According to the Bible, all paranormal activity is evil and caused by demons. All people who have “gifts” are possessed by demons.
Here is one example, this is just my own personal view. There is an entity mentioned in several texts including the Bible,it is called the Cherubim. The Cherubim are Angels who have their secret chambers within a thick nimbus cloud,in other words they are hidden within these mists or storm like clouds. They appear as that which is described when Ghosts or spirits are seen like thick mist near to the ground. These spirits i believe have a direct connection with the heavens but it is through the wheels[of vapour] or chariots of the Cherubim that the spirits of living beings are taken. To me much paranormal activity experienced in ancient texts are mostly apocalyptic warnings of things to come, but the Cherubim are not only here to re-assure us individually if we ask the right question from our hearts but they are also a sign of certain Catastrophy.
There is a lot in the book of Acts about demons and demonic possession. A slave woman with psychic powers loses her abilities when Paul drives a demon from her. Her owner is quite peeved at Paul for this.
There are various places in the bible where its mentioned that the dead will not return to communicate or walk amongst the living. The leads many Christians (including myself) to the belief that ghosts (if anything at all) are not dead people. It is also mentioned in a variety of places that its forbidden by God to attempt to communicate with spirits and practice magic.
You might want to get a decent concordance to find the specific verses and chapters in the bible, there are a few good online concordances as well as Bibles, if you do not want to buy one.
There is a lot about spirits, even one of the apostles when on a mountain top waiting for Jesus, saw Jesus talking to two white spirits that came from heaven.
In the Bible it does talk about testing the spirits…..and spiritual gifts 1 Corinthians 12 …one of the gifts was discerning of spirits, another prophecy and so forth.
Well then read the Bible.
the bible is one gigantic version of a “paranormal activity or ghost” situation. I mean come on the “holy ghost” you have a guy that magically walks on water, you have a guy that juts cuts the water in half, you have a guy that creates everything and then destroys it and then creates more, you have good ghosties and bad ghosties. It’s the novel you are talking about writing. hey maybe if you write this book in a couple thousand years you’ll have your own occult too…
Well, there is a story about Jesus driving demons out of a man and into a group of swine, and then the swine plunged into the ocean.
You might write a novel about how the man got that way.
And thou shalt ask upon thineself, “who you gonna call” and the holy light will reply, “the ghost busters”. Amen.
In my opinion if you were getting in to all that paranormal activity stuff I wouldn’t use a bible because getting involved with ghosts and the dead is something the bible says you shouldn’t do.
according to the bible, it exists!
Probably depends on which version of the Bible you are referring to, but I believe they all mention demons and angels which are both paranormal in nature.
It speaks of ghosts-n-goblins throughout the good book dear friend. Also this holy thumper has documented alien beings as well. Sometimes after a good bedtime story reading it, the Bible levitates above me dresser pal. And WHOA, like I am scared. But then I just pray silently and immediately I am saved dear one.
When the Bible mentions unicorns it’s talking about the one-horned rhinoceros:

It’s the work of the devil.
The bible is chalk full of paranormal events from miraculous healings, raising of the dead, and Jesus conversing with the dead
(Mark: 9:2)
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them
3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
