I am fasinated by ghosts but they scare me to death at the same time. And a few days ago I started to get into a ghost show called A Haunting. Now I have been constantly thinking about ghosts and I constantly have been thinking a ghost is near me and it scares me to death. And I have been thinking about my past encounters with ghosts.
I think that it is awesome that you like the thrill of the unknown world of ghosts. I am very interested too. I really can’t stop thinking about ghosts and I would very much like to be a ghost hunter some day. Oh, and the show you are watching, A Haunting, it is just for entertainment. This show is not real at all. It is a very fun show to watch. Haha, but it isn’t real so don’t believe the “ghosts” that they have on there. If you would like to watch a real ghost show, watch ‘Ghost Hunters’. If you want more entertainment-only “ghost” shows, watch Psychic Kids or Paranormal State. Good Luck! =]

First of all, do not watch the Haunting. That show makes things out to be far worse than they really are. It is all for ratings. Second, read some books about it. A book can tell you more than any TV show ever could. In order to conquer your fear you have to know everything you can about what you are afraid of. It is the only way you will deal with it. I like the idea of talking to some ghost hunters in your area. They would be more than happy to help you. And ghost hunting is all scientific. It would help to prove or disprove what you are afraid of.
Come to terms with the fact that it’s a phenomena you can neithe prove nor disprove. To paraphrase Donny Darko – there’s just no point in thinking about it. Worked my issues with mortality out. The reailisation that I was wasting valuable time I could be living and breathing! On the other hand, of course, there’s always got to be moderation. sometimes allowing oneself to philosophise about existance can be a valuable thing to do. Just when it gets to creating a problem, remind yourself that it is really just a pointless excersise if you want evidence or straight answers.
When I was about 12 years old I started to become really afraid of ghosts. It was because I had attended a funeral of a close family friend and then had to run an errand for my mom that took me into a long dark hallway of a neighbors tenement building. I became so spooked that I started thinking there were ghosts all around that could somehow hurt me.
Later, I began having nightmares about the my concerns and fears. It was really getting out of hand. I was even afraid that a ghost or some goblin might be under my bed and grab at me as I got in.
Finally I did the right thing and have been fear free ever since.
I got down on my knees by my bed (with the lights on, of course) and prayed my evening prayers that I had ignored doing for a long time. I talked to God and asked him to help me be unafraid. Somehow that took the fear away.
My fear of ghosts and goblins was replaced with a feeling that I had a protecting angel with me, kind of sitting on my shoulder. That angel is still with me today and has helped me in many situations to avoid a danger. I don’t know if it’s my intuition, attention to my surroundings, or a true angel; and I don’t care. I just know that I am somehow protected because I have faith that I am.
It wasn’t until later that I learned that ghosts, if they are around, cannot hurt you because they are on another dimension than we living people.
So, if you are afraid, try a little prayer.
Don’t think of it as such an unusual thing. Think of it as something normal…then it won’t scare you so much. Name the ghost and if something happens just say,”Oh..that must be (so and so).” If the ghost sees it’s not scaring you..it will probably quit trying to scare you. Get a new interest and that will take your mind off the ghosts. Don’t stay on this section. I don’t think it’s so much being obsessed with them as being curious about them. A lot of paranormal things happened to me for 10 years. They didn’t scare me. NOW…I’m scared thinking about them..even though nothing is happening. Go figure! lol
