I hear Christians say all the time who say that ghosts are demons trying to decieve believers. Then I thought what if an atheist saw a ghost. Generally, Christians say that Satan already has them in their grasp, so why fool someone who already doesn’t believe?
But I’m just curious: Have any of you atheists spotted what you thought was an apparition or a ghost before? If so, please tell your story. I’m genuinely interested.
Hi Reggie, sorry, not an atheist here, but thought I’d clarify, not all Christians believe ghosts are demons. I’m a strong Christian and believe they’re 2 very different things. Great question though.
You are laboring in a false impression. The “Some but not all” rule applies here. I happen to be a Christian and I do believe in ghosts. Discarnate entities, (including ghosts), COULD have many sources, including spirits of dead people, (ghosts), but MIGHT also include satanic spirits. Certain Christian religious sects may preach what you believe, but others do not. The true answers to these questions cannot be answered by us mere mortals – only God can answer them completely.
Its hard for me to completely believe in God and to completely believe in Ghost. But to me these two are not related at all. What I know for sure is I dont believe in Satan. Dead people become ghosts… so who becomes Demon? Humans dont need Satan to do bad things. We are quite capable ourselves. We also dont need God to do good things. We are quite capable of that as well.
Religion and ghosts should not be put in the same category although it is quite often. Of course different religions have adopted the theory of ghosts and incorporated it into their religion but ghosts, really, are not related to religion.
Genuinely interested eh? Well i’ve got plenty of stories. And religious people can say what they want, just because we don’t all agree if god exists or not, it does not mean that one party is all correct and one is all wrong. Anyway I’ll tell you a bit about what i believe in, I do not believe demons and ghosts should be put in the same sentence let alone the same category. I don’t believe in Satan either, but strangely enough i do believe in demonic or corrupt spirits.(due to my experiences)
My first experiences started out to be some what of a poltergeist i guess you could say? I lived in a pretty old house, in a very “interesting” neighborhood. Many things would go on within the house, such as one night i was home alone and watching tv. I felt something enter the room so i said “hello” and was strangely very calm. It was a bit stormy that night but not bad enough to really seem like an actual storm. So anyway i started speaking to the entity(s) in the room with me, told them that im wasn’t scared of them and if they dared touch any of my family, they’d be sorry. At that moment i looked back at the tv and BAM the garage door flies open. It freaked me out very, very badly because i always locked every door, shut every window turned on every light while i was home alone. I knew that the garage door itself was closed and locked and so was the garage door leading into the house. And yet for some reason it flung open like it wasn’t locked at all.
But this wasn’t the only things that would happen. I’d always hear for nights on end(we had wood floors) these clanking noises and i was always waking my parents up and telling them somebody was in the house, somebody was going to rob us. There was never anybody downstairs at night, not once. My father would tell me it was just the wind chime outside. But the wind chime was a very different sound compared to boots hitting the hardwood floor. And Im not talking about hooker boots, no, im talking about cowboy boots with the spurs on them. It always freaked me out and i never slept very well as a child. And these were only minimal things compared to the worse thing that happened to me, the thing that pushed me over the edge from skeptic to full on believer. One night i was walking home from this old barn, it was the night before my freshmen year of high school. I felt something following me, a guy, a Shadow all the way back to my house. And just as i was about to lay under the covers and sleep i felt something grip my throat tightly and i literally could not breathe. I was beyond scared, so i ran into my mothers room and tried waking her up the best i could and pleading that she’d let me stay in there and have the light on, so she did. But it did nothing to un tighten the grip. So then i started to beg and plead with whatever had the grip on my throat then i just said “I’ll never go back there again.” and i felt the grip loosen and i was able to sleep that night. (Not until like 3am though)
These are only a couple of things that have happened to me. And i’ll tell you, ever since i stopped believing in god i’ve had no real trouble with spirits or demons or ghosts. I mean sure they turn up every once in awhile but then again i’ve moved into a better part of town. I hope you enjoyed my horrible trauma stories and gain what you were hoping to find. (Btw i don’t make these stories up, i have no reason to lie about something that almost killed me)
